Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You? They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood. But the Lord has been my defense, and my God the rock of my refuge. He has brought on them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; the Lord our God shall cut them off.  -- Psalm 94:20-21.

God is moving in our government. As you know, this past year was an election year, and the Lord has blessed us with a vote for and a discussion of "moral issues." The media will likely get it wrong, but the reality of the Christian voice has been heard, and the fight is on more than ever. The enemy will continue to openly assault this nation through the gateways of our government – a government originally formed to promote and protect the free exercise of religion, to promote Christian values, and to establish an orderly, moral, and primarily Christian society. But Federal Intercessors will stand in the gap, and prophesy and declare the restitution of righteous men, women, priciples, statutes, and judgments in our Federal government. As a nation, we must return to righteousness and justice. We must actively engage in the reality of II Chronicles 7:14; we must pray, and we must turn from our wicked ways, including voting selfishly and unrighteously, putting into office those who stand for wickedness and abomination.

Woe to those who enact evil statues, and to those who constantly record unjust decisions. --Isaiah 10:1

Clearly, things are not as they should be. Forces are at work in our nation using the power of government to legalize, legitimize, and enforce lawlessness, sin, perversion, and injustice – abortion, homosexuality, and the threat of not being able to acknowledge God publicly being three obvious examples.  There is no Constitutional right to commit such acts, regardless of what the Supreme Court says, because genuine rights come from God, not man. Furthermore, we are a nation of laws, not of men, and abortion and homosexuality in particular violate natural law.

"Power and Law are not synonymous. In truth they are frequently in opposition and irreconcilable. There is God's law from which all equitable laws of man emerge and by which men must live if they are not to die in oppression, chaos and despair. Divorced from God's eternal and immutable Law, established before the founding of the suns, man's power is evil no matter the noble words with which it is employed or the motives urged when enforcing it. Men of good will, mindful therefore of the Law laid down by God, will oppose government whose rule is by men and, if they wish to survive as a nation, they will destroy that government which attempts to adjudicate by the whim or power of venal judges." –Cicero

Understand this: the Constitution is most legitimately, genuinely, and accurately  interpreted only through a Christian, moral perspective. Any secularist denial of such a principle is rooted in anti-Christ(ian) bias. To expect a secularist to accurately interpret and apply the Constitution is almost as bad as expecting the devil to accurately interpret and apply the scriptures. The desire to ignore or twist the original intent is the same spirit of lawlessness that attacks the validity and truth of the Scriptures, always whispering “hath God said?” This “casting off of restraint” comes with grave consequences.

“We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of each and all of us to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God.” – James Madison

The attempts at dismantling these foundations of America are unpatriotic and dangerous to our nation.  President George Washington made this clear in his farewell address on September 18th, 1796:

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness—these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.….Let it simply be asked, "where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice?" And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion……”

God states very clearly through Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 13, that He has ordained civil government, that He has purposed these governmental rulers to be supportive of good and a terror to evil, that they are indeed ministers of God to whom He has given the authority of the sword (judicial judgment, military action, the death penalty) and whom are revengers (punishers) to execute wrath (punishment, anger) upon him that doeth evil (depraved, injurious, harmful, wicked acts). It is also interesting to note that in this chapter Paul goes on to list some of the “social” aspects of the Ten Commandments such as not stealing and not murdering.

These are immutable, non-negotiable Biblical truths. The founding fathers were unified in their understanding and passion regarding this solemn responsibility, and did all they could as believers governmental leaders to create a form of government that lived up to this Biblical standard.

However, some Christians have argued, and many more have practiced the deception that Christians should not concern themselves with “earthly” politics. Historically, a stunningly low percentage of Christians even bother to vote, although that statistic was greatly improved this last election (and see the impact it has made - both parties and the media are discussing moral values with more intensity and perspective than we've seen in a long time, and it will only increase). It is time for Kingdom-minded Christians to reject this lie of non-participation. It is time for Christians to rise up to another level in intercession for our nation and its leaders, and to do everything in our power to see that Christian, moral leadership is in place in our nation, for “…to whom much is given, much is required…” Luke 12:48.  It is time to take back the land, and our response is one measurement of our stewardship before the Lord. We are to be salt and light in the world, not just the four walls of a church building. Are we not called to rule and reign, Isaiah 32:1?

"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." – John Jay

But beyond the general call and duty to pray and vote, God sometimes raises up specifically assigned persons and ministries for apostolic intercession and spiritual warfare. To go beyond what is visible, into the foundations and roots of spiritual issues, to resist powers and principalities and wickedness in high places, and to legislate, reorder, and restore the foundations in the spiritual realm – to pull down, and to build up (Jeremiah 18). This is the call, purpose, instruction, anointing, and authority of the Lord for Federal Intercessors, made plain in prayer, many prophetic words, apostolic/prophetic ordination, and the multiple confirmations in the mouths of many witnesses .

It is not by might, nor by power, that this will be accomplished, but by the Spirit of God. With prayer and supplication, we will cry out to God to bring the change. We will stand in the gap – in the place of intercession – that God may bring the change He wants. And we will release the apostolic and prophetic declarations that affect the change, including the Lord’s prospective utilization of this ministry to break down some of the strongholds in churches across this nation – churches that proclaim Christ, yet defile their own pulpit in the name of a social gospel by inviting pro-abortion and pro-homosexuality politicians to come and speak in their church!  Or that OK the false premise that "its the economy, stupid." It is the Lord that gives power to gain wealth, Dueteronomy 8:18.

This is the season in which Federal Intercessors (the Lord’s first instruction, focus and initiative of Foundation Restoration Ministries, the “parent” ministry organization) is shifting into a higher gear. These next five years are strategic in pressing through in obedience so God can restore what the enemy has stolen from this nation.

“The choice before us is plain, Christ or chaos, conviction or compromise, discipline or disintegration. I am rather tired of hearing about our rights and privileges as American citizens. The time is come, it now is, when we ought to hear about the duties and responsibilities of our citizenship. America’s future depends upon demonstrating God’s government.” – Peter Marshall, Chaplain, U.S. Senate, 1947-1949
