Warfare

In Ephesians 6:12, we are told:

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

There is perhaps no place on earth where this verse is more applicable in a geographic sense than Washington, DC. Jerusalem, in fact all of Israel, and other places of strategic importance in the confict between good and evil on the earth are all targeted, but what happens in Washington has a unique influence in all the earth.

Our civil leaders mostly have no clue of the spiritual forces pulling on them, tempting them, deceiving them, etc. How many times have you felt or heard it said that a politician was a great guy, until he went to Washington, and over time, he "changed?" There is a reason this happens, and it is more spiritual than political. This is why we are instructed to pray for those in authority over us in 1st Timothy 1:1,2.
